LifePro Raises $69,000 at Inaugural Bill Zimmerman ALS Golf Classic

On Saturday, October 6, 2018 LifePro held their Inaugural Bill Zimmerman ALS Golf Classic at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in Rancho Bernardo, California. With the support of 92 golfers, 41 sponsors, and the entire LifePro team, the event raised over $69,000 for the ALS Association.

The day kicked off at 11:00AM with golfer registration, a putting competition, and complimentary lunch provided by Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. The 24 foursome golf teams teed off at 12:30PM in a “shotgun” start.  Teams partook in a “scramble” style of play, where all players tee off, and then they choose which shot is best and all play their next shots from the location of the best shot.

Golf teams were greeted by an assigned sponsor at each of the 18 holes, where they were given snacks, beverages, and other giveaway items. During the day’s festivities, attendees were also able to purchase raffle tickets for 14 different donated prizes, including a television, golf clubs, gift cards, and overnight stays at local inns.

The day rounded off with an evening bar reception, followed by an awards dinner hosted by LifePro CEO, Heather Ulz, and president, Ben Nevejans. During the dinner, Steve Becvar, Executive Director for the ALS Association’s Greater San Diego Chapter, spoke to the crowd about the initiatives that the chapter is currently focused on, including upcoming events and partnerships that are in the works.

Before Dr. John Ravits, the director of the ALS clinic at UC San Diego, took the stage to discuss the research and breakthroughs his team has made over the last decade, LifePro presented Ravits with a $25,000 check. This donation was made to cover the yearly allowance that Ravits and his team typically receives to provide ongoing clinical research support and treatment.

The LifePro team has been behind the crusade against ALS since LifePro’s founder, Bill Zimmerman, was diagnosed with the disease in 2015. Through ups and downs, procedures and treatments, Bill has continued to maintain the same great attitude that has brought him so much success in life and has become a true advocate and crusader for those that share his battle against this vicious disease.

As the guest of honor, Bill also took the stage, speaking about his journey and the need for community involvement to support the incredible organizations he’s worked with since his diagnosis, the ALS Association of San Diego and the ALS Clinic through the UCSD Foundation.

LifePro thanks the golfers, as well as the many sponsors, who helped them not only reach, but exceed their goal of raising $50,000 for the ALS Association.
